Located in Tetons Yellowstone National Park in Yuming State, USA, Grand Prismatic Spring is the largest and third largest hot water lake in the country!
With a diameter of about 370 feet and a depth of 160 feet, this lake releases 560 gallons of water per minute. The sight of water and steam dripping from the lake makes it look like someone has set the bottom of the lake on fire.
This circular lake was first discovered in 1839 by a group of American Fur Company employees. This lake looks like a rainbow because of the presence of various microorganisms depending on the temperature of the water. In addition, slight colour changes are observed depending on the season by various bacteria or microorganisms.
The water in the centre of the lake is very warm. Its temperature is 70 degrees Celsius. The predominance of bacteria in this area is very low, and the water is very clear and dark blue. Scientists studying various minerals, as well as tourists, regularly walk around to enjoy the colourful beauty here.
