Police have arrested a man named Faruk Hossain on charges of raping a 12-year-old girl in Hajipara area of Joypurhat municipal town. Police arrested Faruk Hossain at night after a case was registered against him at Joypurhat Sadar Police Station on Sunday afternoon.
Faruk Hossain is the son of Jamuna Singh of Hajipara mahalla of Joypurhat municipal area.
Citing the grandmother of the raped child, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Joypurhat Sadar Police Station Shahriar Khan said that Farooq lured the girl on Sunday afternoon and took her to a sugarcane field next to his house and raped her. Later, when the locals came forward with the cry of the child, Farooq Hossain fled. The seriously injured child was rescued and admitted to Joypurhat Modern District Hospital. The OC also said that the child’s grandmother had filed a case with the Joypurhat Sadar Police Station.
