World Cup over for Shakib Al Hasan

Shakib Al Hasan injured his finger in the match against Sri Lanka in the World Cup. It is known that the injury has ended the World Cup journey of the Bangladesh captain. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed this information in a statement.

Yesterday (Monday), Shakib hurt his left finger while bowling in his second over against Sri Lanka. He still completed his full bowling quota, where he took two important wickets. He then played a brilliant innings of 82 runs with the bat. The report received after the match said that his World Cup journey was over. As a result, the Tiger captain is returning home today.

Shakib’s injury was reported by the national team physio Bayezidul Islam. He said, ‘At the beginning of the innings, Shakib was hit on his left index finger. He then continued batting with tape on his hand and painkillers.’

Shakib had also been injured earlier in the World Cup. He missed the match against India.

‘Later, after the match, an emergency X-ray was done on his hand in Delhi. Where it was confirmed that he had a fracture in his left hand’s pip joint. It will take three to four weeks for Shakib to recover. Shakib is returning home today to start the rehabilitation process,’ added the BCB physio.

As a result, Bangladesh will not have their regular captain in their last match of the World Cup. The Tigers will play against Australia on November 11. Shakib, who could not play a big innings in the tournament, scored his first fifty yesterday. He also became the man of the match. Then he got the bad news for Bangladesh!

Shakib was also injured at the beginning of the World Cup. He had a foot pain while playing football during the team’s practice. Although he did not play in the practice match, the world’s best all-rounder played in the first three matches of the World Cup. He was injured again in the match against New Zealand. He was not in the eleven in the match against India.

Shakib had come to Dhaka on October 25, leaving the team in the World Cup. There was not much controversy about his trip. Later it was learned that he had worked on his batting with coach Nazmul Abedin Fahim. He stayed in Dhaka to work with Fahim. He practiced for two days at Mirpur under Fahim. He then shortened his three-day leave and joined the team in Kolkata on the second evening.
